Independent Butterflies Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization youth program serving young girls in grades 6 through 12 in the Fort Myers area. The mission of Independent Butterflies is to promote and empower teen girls to become responsible, confident, and self-worthy young ladies with social awareness. Central to our mission is to provide the teens with mentorship relationships that assist and support them on their path to adulthood with a sense of pride and accomplishment.
Independent Butterflies is a program that was created as a direct response to the growing number of young girls that are falling through the cracks in their communities. Through repeated failures in the community and the development of destructive habits, at-risk girls have lost faith in the possibilities that await them. The goal of the Independent Butterflies program is to identify girls who are going to have a turbulent transition to adulthood and offer them a positive support system to help avoid pitfalls that can derail their lives. The focus on mentorship support in addition to our educational and vocational support programs collectively focus on the same goal- to empower the young ladies to make positive changes in their lives.
Independent Butterflies helps the young ladies to see their potential by empowering them through supportive networks that help them to understand that they can be successful in life. To accomplish this goal, the girls must be in a caring, inclusive learning environment that promotes their best effort and reinforces personal respect.
IBI believes all females can embrace who they are,
can define their future, and can change the world.
To promote and empower teen girls to become responsible, confident, and self-worthy young ladies with social awareness.
We envision a community in which every young female is empowered to make informed decisions, establish healthy relationship and be self-sufficient.
